New Crochet Pattern called Daisy and Shop news.

I'm so excited to tell you that I have finally opened a shop on my website and on Ravelry to sell my knitting and crochet patterns. It's been something i've wanted to do for a long time but my priority since last year has been to set up a website and transfer all my patterns, projects and charts over from my blog - it was a big job but well worth it. So without further ado, here is my very first item in the shop. It is called 'Daisy' and you will find it to buy over on my website at https://www.weediflowercreations.com/shop

Snowflake Crochet Motif

I had such fun working on this Snowflake pattern this week and I hope you have lots of fun making them too.  I'm looking forward to making a whole blizzard of them each night while I watch television to decorate the house and tree with this winter - which might also help me to stop nibbling on mince pies quite so much.

I would really appreciate it and love it if you would help me to keep making and offering these free patterns by making a small donation on my Ko-fi account if you have used any of my patterns or just like my blog or Instagram.  I don't receive yarn or supplies from sponsors so this would enable me to purchase yarn for new projects.

Love, Karen x

The Big Reveal: Sunny Sunflowers Blanket is complete

Here it is in all it's glory!  My completed Sunny Sunflowers Blanket.

Guaranteed to brighten up any setting and will be extra lovely in Autumn with it's complementing colours and cosy for those slightly fresher evenings.

This morning I updated the pattern to include the instructions to make the border.  You'll find the pattern for the blanket by clicking the tab Free and Charity Patterns at the top of the blog.

I'd love to see if you make your own blanket using this pattern, so please remember to tag me in on your posts and also use #sunnysunflowersblanket and #karenwiederholddesigns so others can find them.

Wishing you loads of fun if you choose to make your own blanket or project using the squares.

Karen  x

PS,  If you like this pattern and would like to show your appreciation, please gift a donation to your local Samaritans or Mental Health and Wellbeing Charities.  The work they do has a special place in my heart.  Thank you x

Project ideas:

Brooch: Add a brooch pin to the back  of the head and attach it to your jacket, jumper or bag.

Embellishment: Stitch it to a hat, beanie, scarf, blanket or cushion for a fun embellishment.

Garland: Make a whole family of Bunny heads and thread them through the tops of their ears onto a long ribbon/string for a seasonal garland.

Sweet treat gift idea:  Make two heads, stitch them together from the outer edge of the left ear around to the outer edge of the right ear - this leaves the top ear section open.  Hide a cream egg inside for a sweet gift idea.

Another Alternative use for the Sunny Sunflowers Motif.

Do you love my Sunny Sunflower crochet square pattern that I released two weeks ago but you don't want to make a blanket?

Here's another fun idea!  Make the central part of the motif, fold in half and stitch a portion of the edges together where they meet, forming a wedge shaped napkin and cutlery holder.

A lovely addition to your autumnal table settings for Weddings, Halloween, Autumn or any other celebration.

I love finding the versatility within my projects while designing them.

You'll find the pattern at www.weediflowercreations.com

PS - Take a look in the post below for another alternative idea.

Alternative use for the Sunny Sunflowers Crochet Square

Do you love my Sunny Sunflower crochet square pattern that I released last week, but you don't want to make a blanket?

Why not leave off the final two rounds of the pattern, which turns the centre circular motif into the final square shape, and use it as a heat protector/coaster for your teapot.  I love finding the versatility within my projects while designing them🌻.

You'll find the pattern in my Free Crochet and Charity Patterns section.

Snazzy Circle Squares Cushion Reveal

The Snazzy Circle cushion i've been working on is finished.  You can read up about it's progress and pattern here.

29 February 2012

Snazzy Circle Squares

Patons UK Smoothie DK yarn and 3.5mm hook.

Round1.
Ch5, join to form ring.

Round 2.
Ch3 (this forms first Tr), Tr11 into ring, join to first Tr with SS to close round.  (12 Tr's)

Round 3.
Join new yarn into a space between Tr's.  Ch3 (this forms first Tr)  Tr1 into same space, Tr2 into each space,  join to first Tr with SS to close round. (12 clusters)

Round 4.
Join new yarn into a space between clusters.
Ch3 (this forms first Tr)  Tr2 into same space, *Ch1, Tr3 into next space* repeat * to * to end.   Join to first Tr with SS to close round. (12 clusters)

Round 5.
Join new yarn into a space between clusters.
Ch4 (this forms DTr) Tr2 into same space, *Ch1, Tr3 into next space, Ch1, Tr3 into next space, Ch1,  Tr2 and DTr1into next space Ch2 then into this same space DTR1 and Tr2 to form a corner* now repeat * to* to end, join to first Tr with SS to close round.

I joined the motifs together by working single crochet on the outward facing edges to form a defined border between each square.

First I joined five squares together at a time, then when I had five strips, I joined these together.  The finishing edge around the whole piece is worked in double crochet stitches.

To make a cushion: Make two pieces as shown in the photo above, or make one piece as shown above and a second one as a single large Granny Square.

Place the pieces together with the right sides facing out and crochet three of the sides together using Double Crochet stitches.  Place the cushion pad inside and crochet the final side together.

Loopy Flower Motif

© Karen Wiederhold

I hope you enjoy making these Loopy Flowers as much as the fun I had in creating the design and pattern.  Whether you make one flower to turn into a brooch or produce a whole bouquet of these motifs joined together to reveal scarves, wraps, cushion covers etc, I wish you lots of joy.

The flower pictured above was made using oddments of Double Knit yarn from my stash and 3.5mm hook.

Round 1:   Using white, Ch5 and SS into first stitch to join into a ring.

Round 2:   Ch3, then Tr11 into the ring, SS into first stitch to join.

Round 3:   (Ch6 skip a stitch then SS into next stitch) and repeat until you have five loops. Ch6 then SS into the base at the start of the first loop of the round and tie off.

Round 4:   Join on blue yarn in one of the stitches skipped in previous round.  Working behind the white loops created in earlier round (Ch6 then SS into next skipped stitch from previous round) and repeat until you have five loops.  Ch6 then SS into the base at the start of the first loop of the round and tie off.

Round 5.   Join purple yarn at centre point of blue loop, (Ch8, SS at centre of next blue loop) and repeat to form 5 purple loops, Ch8, SS into the first chain of first loop to join.

Round 6.   In this first petal loop (Ch3, Tr9, SS into same loop then SS into the next loop) and repeat for each petal, ending with SS, tie off yarn.
